I was pointed to a video that asserts that some platonic objective morality exists. It has 6K likes! Even though the arguments are pretty horrible.
No actual proof, in fact mostly blunt assertions. And no, an animation of a person rescuing a cat does not count as proof for inherent morality. People do not universally care about cats. Even today, in some cultures people consider cats food. In the Middle Ages people (Christians!) would torture cats for fun.
Further, why does this presumed objective morality require a god? Hypothetically, an objective moral system can be based on a lot of things. Ask a philosopher. I think Sam Harris proposes we base morality on the well-being of sentient beings. That is an example of an objective standard. No god required, and much clearer than the ten commandments, or the sayings of Jesus.
Even if some universal objective morality existed and even if that would require “a god” - why would that be the god of the christian bible? (new or old testament)
Ironic: the ten commandments state: “No other gods before me”. How can one tell if this so called “objective morality” does not come from any of those other gods? I suppose a Christian would claim that obviously, those other gods are false gods. How do you know?
The response video Morality is Objective, Therefore God. deals with the video point by point. A link to the original video is in the description.
